Solar developer wants to lease 15 acres of my farm
Legal question: What will the impact of a solar development on my farm be for my succession?

Dear Jane,
I farm land which has been in my family for generations. The folio is in my sole name, but my adult children work the land with me, and one hopes to take it over in time. I have been approached by a renewable energy company that is interested in installing a solar project on approximately 15 acres at the edge of the farm. They are proposing a long-term lease and say the land is ideal due to its proximity to a substation.
My concern is not only the income, but how such a development might affect the future of the farm, including succession, access routes, and the remaining agricultural land. I do not want to make a decision now that could cause problems later. What issues should I be considering before agreeing to anything?
