In Ireland, claims for compensation need to be submitted through the PIAB (Personal Injuries Assessment Board) for assessment and investigation. Once your claim has been filed and investigated, PIAB will then decide to award or dismiss your claim. This process should be straight forward, however we find that a lot of clients come to us because they find the process overwhelming. When you contact a member of our team, we will talk you through the process and relay to you the steps that need to be taken in order to submit a successful compensation claim. We will ask you about your experience in detail and prepare the necessary documentation, ensuring that your claim application will be accepted by the PIAB in the first instance.
If, upon first contact, we believe that you are not eligible for a compensation claim, we will notify you immediately.
There are many instances where you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation through the Personal Injuries Assessment Board.
Some of the areas we cover include, but are not limited to:
Road Traffic Accidents: Road accidents can include pedestrian, cyclist and motor accidents in a range of settings.
Accidents in the Workplace: Accidents in the workplace can be caused by inadequate training, poorly maintained or defective equipment, exposure to toxic substances or failure on the part of the employer to follow health and safety regulations.
Slips, Trips and Falls: Property owners are legally obligated to take reasonable steps to prevent slips, trips and falls occurring. This is the case for both private and publicly owned property.
Agricultural Accidents: Unfortunately accidents in the agricultural sector in Ireland are not as rare as they should be. We have spoken to many clients who have experienced falls or injuries as a result of poorly maintained or defective machinery as well as injuries caused by livestock or badly maintained land.
Product Liability: When you purchase a product, it is reasonable to expect the item to function safely and reliably, without risk to you, your family or your property. Unfortunately, even though all products that are manufactured in or imported into the EU are overseen by EU Directives to ensure consumer safety, some defective items do still make their way into the market.
